Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hi, My 1999 996 cab drains the battery faster than my other cars (toyota truck and honda mini van). I can't really figure out what the issue is. When the car is locked and been sitting for a while the draw is 20mA but with a 200mA spike every minute or so. According to https://www.porscheclubgb.com/forum/...6519D19589.pdf , 20mA draw is typical but the 200mA spike is a bit mysterious. Also my amp meter only samples ~2 times a second so not sure how large the spike actually is. Could be more frequent. 1. Someone mentioned that PO might have installed a tracker device? But that sounds unlikely and I have no clue where that might be. 2. Would a ~40 mA average draw be excessive? Sounds quite low. Next is to investigate charge voltage, but when I drive the car a lot I don't see this problem.

POST 2Original post

Generally the threshold for concern is about 50 mA. Those 200 mA spikes are problematic.

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

thanks. I will be ripping out fuses to isolate the issue.
