Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

17 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hi All I have had 3 4S's and all have had big reds. I am going to look at one this weekend that does not have them. I thought they were standard on a 4S. Am I mistaken?

POST 2Original post

What color are they? Owner may have painted them.

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

They are Black and do not look as big in the pictures. I am looking at the car this weekend so I will be able to tell then.

POST 4Original post

Oops. I thought my C4 calipers were black, but they're silver. My Boxster calipers were black/dark gray. If it's a legit C4, a previous owner probably painted them black...the red calipers look terrible once they start getting chipped up after a decade or two of wheel and brake changes...

POST 5Original post

It should have them as far as I know. I don't think there is anything smaller that fits the 4S caliper bolt pattern.

POST 6 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I have the build sheet. It is a 4S.

POST 7 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I have a set of 4S brake pads at home. I will measure them and compare. Why in the world would anyone downgrade them.

POST 8Original post

Because brakes just slow you down. LOL.

POST 9Original post

All 996 C4S cars left the factory with the larger brakes and red calipers found on the turbo. PCCBs with yellow calipers were optional, but are quite rare for the C4S. The C4 (coupe or cabriolet) has silver calipers. The C2 has black calipers.

POST 10Original post

I don't see an option code for black calipers - so that theory is out the window... CRD Red brake calipers CRE Silver brake calipers CRF Yellow brake calipers ...but none for black.

POST 12Original post

But what would they downgrade to? C2/C4 Calipers are a different bolt spacing.

POST 13 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

The Carfax and Autocheck come back clean. I will ask him to take a close up picture of the fronts just in case.

POST 15 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Apparently came from the factory that way and he sent me pictures and it looks good.

POST 16Original post

What color is the car? Tim lets see the pictures. Never seen any color than red on the 4s.

POST 17 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Cobalt. I will get better pictures this weekend.
