I didn't take a picture before I removed. Is the hose supposed to go on further, with clamp on other side of ridge? this hose is down by water pump/thermostat . Thank you .

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I'm going to say no, the ridge is the "stop" for the hose.
I've always thought they go over the ridge unless there are two.
Do you have a photo with the hose removed? It's a bit confusing because I think there are two ridges.

I don't. if someone gets a chance to crawl under their 3.6l and snap a pic, I'd be grateful. 😎
It should go over the bump, unless there are two bumps. If there are two stop at the second. Attach the hose clamp just past the bump also.
This is not a Porsche part but rather an image i got from google. but if you look at the left side connection in the photo it shows a typical coolant pipe. There is a ridge at the very tip of the pipe and then a second ridge that is used as the "stop". Slide the hose on until it hits the stop and the hose clamp should sit between the first "ridge" and the "stop".

^This Usually the hose and the pipe overlap for an inch or so.
A photo of one of the stock pipes.
