Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hello all, my car has made some serious progression from the first time I posted on this page. Its been repainted and now just a few minor things and it will be rock solid. My poor girl stalls out in the morning many many times before actually starting up, and when she starts up, she sputter and dies. Then after about 5 to 6 times she starts up, has a rough idle and once it gets warm then shes okay. Live data is showing that short term fuel trim for bank 2 sensor 2 is reading 99.0. Car does throw codes P1126 and P300-P306. CEL comes and goes on its own. Car did run lean then I cleaned the maf sensor and that went away. Car often smells like gasoline on start up as well. All spark plugs and coils are new, oil is fresh as well. Anyone have a clue? Here are before, during, and after pics of my baby girl now.

POST 2Original post

You could have a stuck fuel injector, which is not good for these engines. I bought the Joe Gibbs Driven Injector Defender, recommended by LN engineering to clean the injectors. Or maybe I drank the cool-aide, but sounds reasonable enough to me.

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Quotes source post: 15445015

How is that workin out for you? I only fill up with Chevron but maybe the Techron isnt strong enough. Ill check that out thank you.

POST 4Original post

Don't drive it rich, you'll wash the bores and things will go south from there... Pull the injectors and get them tested/cleaned etc. They should flag if you have any bad ones.

POST 5 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Quotes source post: 15445041

is pulling the injectors diy applicable? Im not a wizard but I know my way around.

POST 6Original post

Nice progress. Have you replaced the O2 sensors?

POST 7 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Quotes source post: 15445059

No I havent. Car only has 40k. Wanted to make sure there wasnt a vacuum leak before I start buying things I dont need. Cause the sputtering and dying on cold start 100% seems like a vacuum leak. Cause when rubber gets warm it could plug the leak. Would you maybe know of a vacuum system diagram so I could smoke it?

How has no one said, HOLY CRAP that car looks amazing now. If you don't mind, what did the paint job cost?

POST 12 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Quotes source post: 15445242

I was able to get a warranty repaint approved. Didnt cost me a dime. Quote was around 6 grand tho.

POST 13Original post

Quotes source post: 15445311

Well that is interesting, Porsche paid for that? Warrantied by whom?

POST 14 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Quotes source post: 15445314

It was painted previously, dont know the reason. So was able to go back to the shop and argue the delamination was caused by a defect. And the shop reached out to the insurance and got it approved, because they give lifetime warranties with their paint jobs.. Didnt even have to pay the deductible.

POST 15Original post

Quotes source post: 15445428

Wow....that was lucky....the previous owner missed an opportunity to paint and sell the car for more.... :-)

POST 17Original post

Quotes source post: 15445470

Right, the PO would have got THOUSANDS MORE if they just did what you did. I feel like you had a 1-1,000,000 chance and you got it. Now I feel like I should look for some cars with messed up paint that I can get warranty work done on hahahaha. Did they fight you or was it simple?

POST 18Original post

Unless my memory is slipping, or Im confusing this with another delaminated paint car, I think he got the car as a gift from his mother. It looks awesome, congratulations!

POST 20Original post

Wow, that does look nice! I wouldn't bother cleaning the injectors, I would replace them. Warehouse33 had some of the best prices on injectors last time I looked. Using the 10% off code(rennlist) will make them even more affordable. Under $175 for 6 brand new injectors for 996.2. I assume the 996.1 are just as affordable.

POST 21 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Quotes source post: 15445794

You are correct. Was given to me not running at all after sitting in the driveway for 5 or 6 years uncovered. They faught a bit because the company that did it was bought by service king. But since it was lifetime they had to pick up the warranty slack.

POST 22 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Quotes source post: 15446142

You think its for sure an injector issue?

POST 23Original post

If you're having fueling issues and these are the original injectors, I'd say change them. Get it smoke tested and look for vacuum leaks.

POST 31 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Its pouring here in San Jose and my car just wants to do donuts lol. Might have to take her out to Mexico in an hour or so, so she can get her fix.

POST 32Original post

Alex - popping in to say the car looks great, man. I'm glad you're having fun with it. I wish I could help with your issue definitively. I would absolutely follow up on the injectors so long as your car isn't holding codes for MAF, O2, air intake stuff that could be throwing off fuel mix due to the ecu being confused. Your car had sat for some time... perhaps they really are just a little gummed up. I think you should pick up a bottle of that Joe Gibbs in the meantime, while you troubleshoot the issue, and see for the fun of it. It's pretty cheap.

POST 33 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Quotes source post: 15447350

Just filled up and threw a bottle in the tank, car loved it. Between that and the Techron, injectors should be clean. When the rain clears up or probably sometime in the next week or so Im gonna drop the engine a little bit and check them out. I think I found a vacuum leak earlier but Im not too sure. I have to wait and see till tomorrow morning after the car sits overnight. Thanks for the compliment, she deserves it right now.

POST 34Original post

Maybe clean the throttle body and Idle Control Valve.

POST 35 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Quotes source post: 15447368

throttle body is spotless, cleaned it about a month ago. My car doesnt have an idle control valve? Or does it.

POST 36Original post

Hmmm. Few things... Most automakers limit fuel trims. I find it hard to believe Porsche engineers would cap fuel trims at +/-99%. If your vehicle is running rich due to a mechanical issue, your 02 sensors should cause ECM to adjust fuel trims to a negative number. I wouldn't drive the vehicle, you'll damage your cats. I think your diagnostic hardware is suspect; what are you using?

POST 37 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thats embarrassing. My mistake Im gonna read the codes again.

POST 43Original post

If you're looking for a new ~$100 scanner, I would highly recommend Blue Driver .

POST 44 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

So yesterday. My car threw codes for the mass air flow sensor. And now it starts right up and doesnt die when I start it. Getting car smoked next week to see if theres a vacuum leak, but now Im lost. When MAF wasnt throwing codes it was stalling and now its not. Would that be causing all the problems?

POST 45Original post

Clean the MAF. You'll need a tamper-proof torx bit to remove it. There is a special MAF cleaning spray, but some use carb cleaner.

POST 46Original post

My money is on a vacuum leak. What was the code?
