Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Hi guys! I'm a bmw owner, and have been for a long time. I've always loved Porsche, and I've found one that has piqued my interest. Hoping to get some of your guys thoughts on the car and it's value. I've come across a '02 996 Turbo, 6MT, 24k Miles, arctic silver, black interior, moon roof, and has the wood trim everywhere package. Does not have stock wheels, and the wheels that are currently on the car are gaudy chrome mess. Dealer wants $52.5k. I'm currently in negotiations, and will absolutely have a PPI prior to any decision. Does that price seem fair, as long as PPI turns out clean? I'm aiming for $51k out the door (before taxes etc), but if this is still too high, I'll try to negotiate lower. I'm not too familiar on the valuation of 996 Turbos, so figured I'd ask the experts here. I want to say this car has been sitting at this dealer for 4 months now, so they may want to move it. Carfax shows 5 owners. Thank you all, hope I can become a 996 owner and contribute to this forum!

Hey Nyuofa, there is actually a 996 Turbo forum: https://rennlist.com/forums/996-turbo-forum-61/ This is the 996 Carrera NA forum. Not that we don't like you! We just don't have as much experience with the forced induction Mezgers. What I can tell you is thankfully the interior trim is common across all 996's so finding new trim will be a cinch if you purchase and want to make changes. Plenty of DIY guides on this site and all throughout the wonderful internet. I hope you get it. These cars are a blast! Turbo is next level.

Don't know where you are but as far as prices this seems about average now. Seen em as low as 36 (probably have issues) and a few around 45 but i think they are east coast high mile cars. there are 4 at Park Place in Bellevue, WA that look nice in the 52 to 55k range. good luck!

Sorry! I did not know this was for strictly the NA forum. Will definitely be more aware in future! And thank you! I think I may be ok with the price. And low 50's seem to be the floor for these low mileage examples. I can't imagine the price falling any more in future. Thank you guys!

POST 5Original post

That is a fair price for a low mileage car like that.

It is and isn't. You are 100%, totally welcome here. We love gawking at Turbros. There are just MORE Turbo guys on the Turbo specific forum than coincidentally on here. If you get the car check in with us now and then.

Have your PPI Tech check the usual items like clutch slave and accumulator if they have not been replaced you will have to count on replacement - it seem like the all fail due to age more than miles ( this can cost you a couple grand ) also the rear wing hydraulics are a pricey to repair - again not if but when If all is in good working order 51K is a pretty fair price - wheels are a big deal to me so I would have to account for replacement wheels in my budget (wheels and tires $3K-$5K) try to wrap the wheels into the deal I picked up an 03 996TT with 33k gray/back 6MT miles for $47K last march had to do the clutch slave and accumulator within in a few months of ownership happy hunting
