I've been getting sentimental lately. I hit a rock and broke the motor on my favorite 1999 cab. The cost of repair out weighed the value of the car, so the insurance totaled it. I declined the insurance offer to buy it back and moved on; buying a nice, high mileage 996tt (thank you State Farm!). Well, I kept an eye on the car... and finally gave in and bid on her. Now, it looks like I've (happily) got another "project". https://www.iaai.com/Vehicle?itemID=...oadRecent=True And, I've got my 99 trackday car coming apart for a motor refresh... What kind of an affliction is this? A Porsche disease?

Coverage and how to read this overview
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

You do have it bad! You sound like me....I have two 996's, two 986's, four 914's and six air cooled 911's and a host of other cars. If one is good, multiples are even better!
Maybe there is a support group for therapy... or a 12 step process for the porscheholic.
Lol. I feel the pain/joy of this affliction. Two in a year and I still can't keep my nose out of any selling sites . When will it end! Edit: Glad you got your car back OP!
Just out of curiosity, what did the insurance company give you for the 99 ? I've got a 99 Coupe and I'm always wondering what it's worth to the insurance company.
Cake, meet my fork! Nice turn of events!
How bad did u crack the motor? I was able repair the one that was in the roller i bought.
Yes Astro: the insurance gave me 21,500 for the car. I turned around and found a 110k mile, worn-but-still-loved 2001 turbo for only a few more thousand. Later, my wife gave me the go ahead to buy back the cabrio. I only paid 5615.00 after fees, etc. at auction. Funny thing is that the insurance originally offered it back to me for 5k! In retrospect, I never would have bought the 996tt if I had bought back the cabrio at that time. A few months later, when it came to auction, I was a little more flush....it seemed a easier to justify the extra expense. I guess "everything has a reason". Jeeper: On my cabrio; the rock kicked up and broke a water line clamp. The the car lost coolant and overheated when my wife was driving it. The car stalled out on her. Now antifreeze leaking out of both mufflers when cranking. Nice welding though!
