My rear bumper has developed a bulge near the exhaust tip. I believe this happened after my last lapping session at the track as I just noticed it after washing the car. Anyone have any idea why this would suddenly happen and how to fix it? The exhaust is an aftermarket Fabspeed exhaust and was already on the car when I purchased it last year. Am I missing a heat shield?

That is the problem with the Fabspeed Exhaust tips. they look great but are not doubled over for heat shielding. They get very hot and eventually could (and have) melted bumpers. I had the same ones and the same problem. My advice, get rid of them..
Thanks. What did you replace them with?
Back to OEM, which are designed properly, just do not look as cool.... Oh, well...
looks like a previous repair
Went through same experience and new bumper. Mine was so bad that I thought someone had backed into me. The tips are whats wrong and they caused the damage.
Anyone know if the Chrome exhaust tips from for 02-04 fits on a 2000? I like the quad pipe look better... Also, any recommendations on where to buy used? Don't think my wife will let me spend $1K CDN on exhaust tips...
They will not fit properly. The bumpers on the MKI and MKII are slightly different and the MKII tips will stick out to far looking awarkward...
Do the stock exhaust tips fit on the Fabspeed mufflers, or is the diameter different? Thanks.

Well, in a perfect world yes. But, yes, stock exhaust tips will fit Fabspeed mufflers..
