Unfortunately, I picked up a set of 19" lobster forks from a Cayman in perfect condition with nearly new tires for a great price before I realized that Cayman lobster forks are only 9.5" in the rear (not 11" like the 997). While I will likely sell them and put my 18s back on, I did put the 19s on my car with spacers (taking into account offsets) and they actually fit fine I did some research on rennlist and other places and have seen people say that the 9.5 inch rear wheel is designed for a mid engine not a rear engine. I know that can't be entirely true because some early 996s with 17" wheels were only 9 or 9.5" in the rear. When driving the car, it felt like it floated a little, but that might be because it's riding high and needs to be lowered with 19s. I don't track the car, I just take it for spirited drives in the country. I love the look of the lobster forks, but I don't want to create problems with the car. Thoughts?

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Does anyone have an opinion on this? Other than Porsche not endorsing 19s on a 996, is there any reason 9.5" wheels on the rear (with spacers) would negatively impact suspension or handling? Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.
I'm an idiot when it comes to wheel fitment, but if I were in your shoes, I'd verify the car can stay in proper alignment. If so, and the modest reduction in traction doesn't bother you, enjoy the wheels & bring the ride height down to where you like it. 19s aren't the most popular choice around here so narrow 19s are probably enough to attract a lot of negative opinions. But - if the car can be lowered & aligned to your liking - that's really what matters. You can always swap back to 18s if you have any concerns about resale with slightly off-spec wheels.
