Hey folks: I've lurked around Rennlist for a number of years, but not much of a poster. I've been playing with the aircooleds for a while and that kept me mostly over at Pelican Parts. Anyway, looking to make a move into a streetable track car. I've been developing my '88 along these lines, but am ready for many reasons to move up, over, on, what-have-you. The '88 is now up for sale and will make someone an excellent weekender and beginning to intermediate DE car. I've looked through the classiifieds here and at Pelican, and am doing lots of searches all over the place. If you have, or know of anyone who is selling, please feel free to forward them my way. Track performance mods are a plus, and good maintenance is a must. I am not looking for concours, but I need a safe, reliable car that is a solid platform to build on. It needs to be reasonably streetable for getting to/from the track. Not yet ready for the trailer process. I am not looking for rollers or other projects--don't have the time right now. As a reference point, I am thinking of developing the car along the lines of PCA H rules. That's in the future if at all. Right now, a track competent mean machine will do the trick. I am on the east coast, mid atlantic. If you've a mind, feel free to email, pm, or post a reply. Keep enjoying these wonderful cars. Aaron Shapiro [email removed]

Coverage and how to read this overview
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Welcome aboard and good luck with the search
Thanks. As frustrating as these things can be, the search is also part of the passion. I didn't emphasize it in the first post, but if anyone is interested in a diamond blue metallic hot rod Targa--that's what my '88 is--let me know. Recent professional rebuild 3.4, hot cams, peformace exhaust, Fikses, new tires, new race pads, race seats, five-point harnesses, lots of suspension upgrades . . . oh, wait, I'm talking myself into keeping the car! Aaron
There is no shortage of cars with your requirements. Take your time, and find the right one. Good Luck.
Yes, patience and understanding that the passion for the car and driving must not become the emotion for a purchase--especially with this particular model and age range. Just spent a week looking hard at a car and got saved by a PPI. Wow! Can not underestimate the value of a good inspection. Sucks to spend $$$ with no immediate return, but the payoff in saving far more $$$ is well worth it. Aaron
Best money I ever spent was on a failed PPI.
You are doing it the right way with a PPI, and yea, now it hurts to pay but better than getting a Porsche with bigger $ problems. There should be plenty to choose from.GL
Having gone through the process of buying a car only to immediately rebuild the motor, I'll not go down that dark road again. Of course, she's a beaut now--many, many thousands later. Wasn't even my first P-car. Is a good education always so expensive? Lot's of cars but I am rather particular guy. The road goes on . . .
e-mail sent. I have just the car for you.
Got your email and replied. Thanks. Aaron
