Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Today is my last day owning a 996. I've had my Carrera for over 4 years and it has been a fantastic car. If it wasn't so good I would have not stepped up and ordered a GT3. I still love the way this car drives (it has a ROW M030 suspension with GT3 control arms and an X51 engine). It is so beautifully neutral. Driving into work in the fresh rain, I did a couple medium speed drifts around corners perfectly on line. At lunch when we got out of the car when we parked at the restaurant, somebody walking to their car commented to me "nice car" as I walked past them. As I finished my session at physical therapy tonight, my therapist asked if the gray 911 was mine and commented about how nice the car is; jokingly asking if he could borrow it. This car still feels as special and brings looks as the day I bought it. Tomorrow it is going to a new home and I could not have chosen a better one. One of my friends and a fellow rennlister is buying it. He approached me about buying it last year when he found out I ordered a GT3, but due to circumstances beyond his control could not buy it when my GT3 came in late last year. I did put it up for sale, but not very aggressively. Those circumstances changed and the keys are getting handed over tomorrow. I do have some regrets selling it, but it is a lot easier knowing it is going to a good home.

The 3 is so much more addictive and fun, it will make you forget all about the 996. Mind you, I still have my 996, it was my first Porsche, and most importantly it's a convertible; thus, it serves the purpose of driving with the top down.

Must be tough having to pick driving the GT3 or 911 SC now

Beautiful Seal Gray 996. Glad you were able to get her (him?) in to a good home. BTW, you GT3 is beautiful! Do you track the car?

POST 5Original post

A GT3 is my dream car.....for now my 996 will have to hold me over before I have enough pennies saved for a mk2 gt3. Your 2010 GT3 is gorgous!!

POST 6Original post

Excellent post - I am 2 years into 996 ownership and still loving it, and in a couple years hope to step up to a newer 911 when the time is right, love reading how you got lots out of your 996 and how you are enjoying your new GT3. Thanks for sharing!

That's nice to hear. No doubt your GT3 fills that hole in your heart. Nice going with the sale of your 996.

GT3 will get its first track experience this week. One thing I notice wit hthe GT3 is even though it does ride very well (biggest surprise), there is still a hard edge to the car. Everything is stiffer: clutch, shifter, steering, brakes, etc. I could drive the 996 all day and not feel fatigued while it takes more work to drive the GT3 around. The GT3's stock exhaust surprising resonantes on the highway it is also a lot louder than the Fabspeeds on my 996. It sounds already so good, I am not changing my mind about adding a center pipe. The hardest thing with the GT3 is keeping my foot out of it. It is a lot faster all the time. Even if I shift at 6K, it still has a lot more torque/power. I thought my X51 was pretty fast, but this is a whole new level.
