Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

We shipped the kid to her grandparent's house so we had an opportunity to head to the beach for the weekend. Of course it goes without saying that the 996 was nominated for duty for the ride! We headed to Myrtle Beach with is about 200 miles from Charlotte but without a direct route there it takes about four hours to arrive. The car performed flawlessly except for one strange incident with the stereo where in the middle of playing a CD it beeped real LOUD four times and shut itself off. Then it "rebooted" itself and had no problems the rest of the trip. Wierd! Anyway the temperature here was HOT as in the high 90s most of the time. The car's A/C worked great and even with the PSE the exhaust was not tiring and didn't really intrude unless I was under hard acceleration. The one thing that was annoying was on certain road surfaces the Michelin Pilot Sport's have a sort of whine that is bothersome. Overall fuel mileage was around 23 MPG and again there is a lot of stop and go there so I thought that was pretty impressive. When there I got a lot of comments about the car and even was asked to race against a big lifted 4x4. I politely declined while laughing it off... So again, very satisfied as even the wife had no complaints about her comfort throughout the ride. What a car - good enough to have fun with at an autocross last week and able to pull off a comfortable road trip this weekend! Next weekend we head to Buffalo/Niagara Falls but this time the SUV will get chosen for that ride and the 996 will get it's first week of rest since I've owned it.

I think the 996 is a very comforable car to drive on trips. I don't fly so I drive everywhere and prefer to take the GT3 (before sale) or the 996 over rather than any of my other cars. It is extremely comfortable even when driving 18+ hours non stop. BTW: I'm driving to Charlotte at the end of July in the 996. Not a long trip for Chicago, but fun, none the less.

Nice story! The CD thing - I have had mine swap to radio in the middle of a sond before? It's happened maybe 3 times in a year. Not worth the money to do anything about IMO Tire noise is tire noise. I have new tires and am happy that they are quiet. That said, the old ones were not all that noisy. My wifes car has terrible tire noise.... but I dont hear it Back in the day, the idea of a Porsche was to go to the weekend races with the picknic basket, race, and drive it to work Monday, seems you have the "spirit" figured out there!!

I have made the Charlotte to Myrtle Beach , to OD, to Cherry Grove, to Sunset, to Ocean Isle many of times as a kid. It use to be a long boring drive. Nothing but tabacco fields and more tabacco fields. My grandparents lived in Charlotte and we would rent a beach house for a week at one of the Caroilina beachs. Good old saltwater taffy and the rides down at Myrtle Beach.

Yeah the drive is pretty boring but at least it was made a bit more fun by the vehicle I was driving there...We stayed at the Hilton resort so it was secluded enough to be away from the college-age crowd but of course right on the beach so very convenient. Had a great time and I miss having the ocean so easily accessible.
