Hi all, I've been looking for a 02-04 996 cab for the past few months and missed a keeper out on the west coast. I am currently investigating a 2003 996 cab, appx 45K miles, good overall condition and currently working on setting up a PPI. It's black, black and black with a few desireable options such as the X51 Power Kit, PSE, PSM and Sport Seats. The only problem that i am aware of is the top does not go up or down on it's own, I am told it can be opened or closed easily with one hand. Now what do you think is a fair price and what might be wrong with the top? TIA Jeff

Coverage and how to read this overview
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I believe the hydrualics are known to go bad. Not a cheap fix. I am sure a cab person will chime in soon.
bump......
ask the PPI shop for a quote to fix....
The reservoir may be dry, it happens with long term slow drip @ a time leaks and large piston seal leaks. Also timing issues with the side flaps and large rear cover micro switches. Easy by hand?? Not.
Those are pretty awesome options though. PSE and X51 especially are hard to come by.
PSE and X51 are great but only hard core 996 people will really put value on those, so I'd say $3k value at most. anyways, the car is plenty fast without the X51 kit. so if the car is not as good as a 'regular' 996, then go for the cheaper.
