Are there any differences between the 996.2 x-pipe and the 997.1 version? Some sites say they are the same, some sites sell two different items. Long story short, I'm thinking of dropping my catless x-pipe for one with 200 cel cats. I've also thought about buying two catalytic converters and cutting them in myself. Any input is appreciated.

Coverage and how to read this overview
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Why add cats now?

Driving a car without cats on the street is pretty rude IMO.

Pick one North Carolina still requires catalytic converters so I stress every time I go for the yearly inspection I feel like its the right thing to do I also feel like they should be on the car when I list for sale Car came with the catless x-pipe, I wouldnt have bought it.
Removing cats altogether without altering the car's tune isn't really a great way to do much besides add noise and stink. Reduced backpressure can reduce torque at the low end, for example. As with so many other things, "it ain't that simple."
