Hi - Does anyone know of a mobile mechanic in the LA area (Downey to be specific) or a shop that will send someone out to do a bore scope on a motor? It will be out of the car. Thanks

Coverage and how to read this overview
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Why not just buy an endoscope and do it yourself. It would be waaay cheaper than a mechanic and fairly easy to do with the motor out. I bought this based on some recos from this board. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01MYTHWK4/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1 https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01MYTHWK4/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I already own a borescope, but I live 4 hours away. Gas, plus time away from work would cost wayyyy more.

Well, if you do get someone to go out there too scope your engine, they need access to the sump as you know. Is the engine out and sitting on the floor on its sump plate..? on a good Engine stand..? work table sitting on its sump plate...? Is tranny still connected..? Has oil been drained..? Things I'd want to know before going out to scope it. As might need to bring an engine hoist and engine stand, & oil catch bucket, to gain easy safe access...? To really give a good clear idea of bore condition, scoping a m96 isn't as easy as some would suggest.
