Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

7 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I know this isn't about a 996, but you terrific folks were the ones who got to listen to me bitch! I found it most interesting that the car salesman told me, "They are all Porsches, they all drive the same (he must have thought that I was REALLY blonde ). Well, the following quote is from the February edition of Car and Driver magazine, page 47. 911 FLAVORS: The GT3 RS has the direct feedback and quick responses of a race car, but is friendly at the limit. After we drove the hard-core GT3, we found that the 911 Turbo S felt nearly as soft as a Lincoln Town Car. I would have loved to have been at VIR to see the BATTLE OF THE FASTEST!! I have a friend that lives about 30 minutes from VIR, I'll have to ask him to keep me posted

POST 2Original post

I read that article too. It left me wanting to see the GT2 RS in action next year!

POST 3Original post

The Turbo S is a rocket... a cruiser on steroids. Would love to have one someday......

POST 4Original post

That article opened my eyes to several things, including how much quicker the GT3 RS is around a track than a Turbo S and also the very competent lap times of the Boxster S and Corvette Z06.

POST 6Original post

Nasty things of suspension, weights and rubber to the road. The turbos can pin you back but that action isn't going to help matters when a GT3 is set up just right in a turn. Doesn't help the turbo with the GT3 having power and torque of a canon in the turns. The turbo is always going to need the straights to semi leave a GT3 behind......if he was able to pass the GT3 in the first place hehehe. I'm sure the turbo is heavier. I think its kind of like the superbike sales industry. The cars are made to have their place in the performance line of vehicles they sell.

POST 7Original post

For road racing, mass, suspension, and brakes come before power. I've timed plenty of SPEC Boxsters on road racing tracks that were faster than GT3s, GT2s, GTRs, and Z06s. You wanna go fast, you gotta hear the suspension, not the engine.
