Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hello Everyone, I finally pulled the trigger and moved up to a 911. Picked up a mint 1999 996 in Arctic Silver with only 26K miles. After owning 4 other porsches (1979 924, 1984 944, 1986 944 and 1991 944S2 Cabriolet (Still Own), I keep asking myself why I didn't do this sooner. My wife keeps asking me if I will ever buy a car other than a Porsche. I guess I just love these cars. No matter how many problems I have with them or the enormous amount of money I dump into them I just can't seem to get it out of my system. Anyways, the car is 100% stock, but I am already planning a few upgrades before winter hits here in Wisconsin (new front bumper (GT3 or GT2 can't decide), side skirts, H&R Lowering Springs, Misha Wing. I will wait until next spring for new wheels and tires. I was hoping to find a newer 996 with more mods, but this one was too clean to pass up. Look forward to helping out whenever I can and also getting help from you guys when I'm laying under my car covered in grease swearing that I will never buy another Porsche. Here's a few pics: (for those of you that forgot what your car looked like without all the upgrades).

Congrates. I know the feeling about Porsche. I will never not own one (when financially possible). There is just something about them that gets in your system.

POST 7Original post

Very nice. I'm only on my first, but I wanted it all my life. I have no idea how I'm going to justify the next one, but I'm with you -- it's hard to imagine not having one. Enjoy!

POST 8Original post

congrats, i think you'll find 996 to be far more reliable than your 944

POST 9Original post

Beautiful--just spend less than $40 and swap the orange side markers!

Welcome and congratulations!!!! I've had mine for three weeks now and the mod bug is a virulent one. There are many low cost modifications that you can make, that I feel really make a nice difference. This is a good way to start, while taking the time to do the research about the more expensive mods.
