Hadn't driven my 02 C4Sfor a week and had left it outside in 4 days of rain. Started it up and it the engine felt rough, CEL came on. I drove it a couple of miles and the light stayed on and the roughness continued. Felt most noticable at low RPM when starting, kind of stumbles. From the rear the left side exhaust has a more rough/lumpy sound... Any thoughts, the dealer is 30 miles away so I'm not sure if I should drive it or not. Other option is to drive to the Advance Auto for a readig of the codes, which is about 5 miles away.. Car has 44k miles. Keith

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

It's quite possible you have a case of wet and/or cracked coil pack(s) on the 1-3 bank. I would check oil and coolant levels and if they're OK and look normal in color I'd drive it to the parts place to get the codes read. But I'll bet that by the time you get there the roughness will be gone due to water evaporating from the defective coil.
Doug, Good call. It cleared itself up no more roughness. Had the code read and it said 0306 cyl 6 misfire. Had it reset and hopefully all is well. Thanks Keith
Your 02 C4S was trying to teach you a lesson. Outside, in the rain, for 4 days? I think that constitutes abuse.
Yes it will never happen again! My garage is full of two BMW 325's, one broken race car and one donor parts car as I try to get it back track ready.
One curious thing I just thought of. The CEL code said #6 cylinder misfire which if I did my research is on the right/passenger side. The odd exhaust note was coming from the left/driver's side....hum....curious... Oh'well it went away and that's a good thing! Keith
Go out and take a peek under your car. The exhaust gasses from the right (passenger's) side exits through the headers and then moves from the headers to the CAT at the rear center of the car and then continues to the muffler on the left (driver's) side. This is why you heard the odd exhaust note coming from the driver's side muffler.

damn Tim, you need to get a Porsche again... just doesnt seem right to know so much about the car and... drive a Honda.
Red, thanks for the kind words. I would love to get into another Porsche. However, I still haven't found a job after getting laid off in early December. Things are really tight in the job market right now and my savings are dwindling fast, which is not a good combination.
