Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

For those that made the switch over to the aerokit rear deck, were you able to just swap over the rubber stops from your old decklid? I've got a 2001 C4 and the stops just don't seem to fit in the new hood. The mount right on the surface of the old decklid and they're recessed in the new decklid...Am I missing something obvious? I thought they were just swappable... Thanks, Shawn

POST 2Original post

I thought they were swappable also, but that did not turn out to be the case for me - the threads were a different size, so I ended up getting new ones.

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Interesting...the parts catalog only seems to show one size. I guess I'll just order some new ones and hope they're the correct thread.

POST 4Original post

There is a specifc rubber buffer (that is what they are called) for the aero decklid. Part number 996-512-987-00. They are two piece and you need two. This is for the MK1 decklid. Sunset has them for $5.20 each.

BTW, I'm not sure I've seen photos of your car with the wing on the back, did you post?

POST 6Original post

Just the Avatar. But now the entire thing is apart and getting redone. Should have some photos (and the story) in the next week depending on the outcome of the redo.

Thanks... you know yours is going to look good one day. So, how are the car projects going?

POST 12Original post

Wayne, the project cars are going well, thanks. The 04 BMW is done and my wife is enjoying it a little, before we sell. The exterior of the Maserati is done. I am in the middle of rebuilding the brake system and redying (Leatherique) the interior. It is proving to be a fun project.

POST 13Original post

Glad to hear that the BMW is done - I figured that you would be selling and moving onto a new project soon. I can't wait to see the finished Maserati - that's such a nice looking car - a keeper once it's done. I'm hoping that someday we'll be able to put our kids on a plane to visit our in-laws and stop in and see your car... the timing should be about right considering that I'm in no hurry to put a 1 year old on a plane.

POST 14Original post

Wayne, thanks. I will look forward to the visit. If I'm lucky, the Maserati might even be done by then.
