My 2001 996 has the full interior carbon package and I have learned to live with it yellowing and small cracks - but both door sills are flaking and cracking and yellow. The base weave is fine and I am wondering the best way to refinish them. If I try and re-epoxy coat them it will run on the vertical surface, if I try and take them out with fishing line might break them. Would a 2k clear spray work well enough if I mask and spray in place and them put ppf over them to protect from shoes and misc? Thanks

Coverage and how to read this overview
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Buy new ones. I doubt those can be repaired in-situ. They need sanding and recoating, but the letters are gone too. I have stainless steel plates and they are holding up really well. Maybe as a substitute for what you have, that you hardly ever see except with the door open? Rennline Boxster/cayman Stainless Steel Sill Cut-out Plates, OvalSP2XO $95
At about $750 per side a little steep to just buy new ones!
Reach out to TuneRS in South Florida, IIRC they have someone that repairs and refinishes them. They may have some good advice at the very least.
