Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hi, Just took my 2005 911 T out of storage and there appears to be green oxidation on the brushed metal that frames the gear shifter. Any ideas why this has occurred and how best to clean it? Also, have had trouble with sticky radio *****? Thank you very much! Kevin

POST 2Original post

That is not brushed metal, it is plastic, with some coating from Porsche. Not sure your cause. -Tom

POST 3Original post

That looks more like some type of mold/mildew. Wipe it off. Remove radio *****, wipe with alcohol and then dust with baby powder.

Just my opinion, but I have the same type shifter with the silver trim, and it appears yours may have been painted bright green in the past and then someone tried to paint it back silver metallic? You see, the original trim has a brushed silver metal overlay material, not painted. Yes, it can crack and look bad, but I never remember GREEN paint or primer being the under layer material. Irregardless, if it doesn't simply clean up, I would gently remove the trim and shifter. Then, have it repainted silver metallic.
