Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I am proposing a very casual gathering of 996 owners and whoever else (or whatever else) wants to show up. No registration, no fees, no reservations, no schedule per se. Just a parking lot cruise-in for an afternoon of getting to know each other and looking at each others cars. I am suggesting September 20th, mid afternoon, at Hooters in Sanford, Florida, just off I-4 near Lake Monroe. Q & A 1. Why then? I have previewd the college football schedules and determined that that day is the least likely day to be a home game for the major Southeast Teams except the 'Noles. I did not pick Sunday because I wanted folks to feel comfortable to come early and stay late. or v. v. 2. Why Hooters? I chose Hooters because it is very easy to find, a known quanitity as to menu and price, low key atmosphere, always has a zillion TV's with all the college games on for those who will still need that in their life, and also offers some great "models" for taking pictures of with your car. 3. Why Sanford? Sanford is a crossroads for folks all over the State of Florida and is easily accessed by the interstates and the turnpike and is within 3 hours of most of the State 4. What is in it for me? Ummm. Hooters... and a bunch of cool cars that are there for the same reason you are... 5. Why did I not care enough about the 'Noles home game to pick a different date? FSU did not rank as high as UF in the annual rankings for best party schools. 6. How will I recognize you when I get there? I'll be the one with the red Porsche. So here is what I'm gonna do. I'll make certain Hooters in Sanford can host us on that day (yeah, like they won't want a dozen or so Porsche owners flinging their cash around that afternoon). And here is what you are gonna do. Just show up. Bring your 996, some cash for your own food and beverages, and a camera, and anything else (or person) you think we'll find entertaining. If you want to wear your Rennlist T-shirt go ahead (No, I don't have one either, but there must be someone on this site selling them. Haven't even looked). Let me know if you think you can make it.

POST 2Original post

Cool idea. It's too far north for me, but it sounds fun.

POST 3Original post

Actually, we do a Hooter's Lunch every month in South Florida, and it is not at all bad - we enjoy the lovely scenery if you get my drift.

POST 4 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Porschedog, Yeah, I read through the threads before posting this to make certain I wasn't already stepping on someones toes. I saw your South Florida monthly gathering thread. Same problem for you coming to this as it is for me going to yours. Just too far to drive for lunch. LOL! Florida sure is a big long state. Your events looked like fun and I would enjoy them immensely, but...

POST 5Original post

Love to come, but Pcola is a looong way from Sanford!

POST 6Original post

Thundertub, I am really interested in meeting up. I hope I am in town when this goes down. If it stays on the 20th of Sept I am out though.

POST 7Original post

Sounds interesting. I would make the trip from Tampa.

POST 8Original post

You might want to post this on the 911, 964, 996TT and 993 and other forums also as the time gets near. There are a few of us local to Orlando that get together every now and then for wrenching parties and such and would probably show up.

Sounds great to me! I'll be there. St. Augustine is not too far of a drive. Like that matters anyway Raul

POST 11Original post

I am glad to see all these FL people. I need to get out and meet some of you guys

POST 12Original post

I might try to make that. I am just south of Tampa.

POST 13Original post

Now that I am seeing there are a few of us near the Tampa area we should try to meet up sometime too. Not trying to jack your thread here Thundertub
