fyi for any locals going to Long Beach. Porsche is not sponsoring an official Porsche Platz this year, but there's a Porsche corral that has been coordinated by PCA (near Shoreline Village). $20 per day for Friday and Saturday which is pretty good considering you have to pay at least $15 to park anywhere else. But p_l_e_a_s_e leave by Sunday. Do NOT waste your time watching crapwagons, (IRL). I've spent 25 years flagging for CART/Champ Car and I won't reward the retard who runs the IRL with the time of day. If everyone left after the ALMS race and the stands were empty for Sunday then maybe the sponsors would drive the issue of a *real* open wheel race series with *real* cars. It's like trying to convince people that the Grand Am DP Porsche is not a sports car when comparing the 08 ALMS Porsche Spyder's. The dumbing down of racing on this side of the Atlantic is getting depressing... IRL = the Bubba of open wheel racing.

Thats funny. My very first year in Houston (sans-Porsche) they held the Grand Prix of Houston which had a ALMS race. It was incredible... open access to the pits and all. The local PCA chapter even had a ceremonious lap of the track. Then I got the 4S, and waited anxiously for next years race... but they've canceled each year! Even TV coverage of Sebring was weak. I wish the powers-that-be would promote ALMS, Supercup racing etc over the gaudy lapping billboards that rule the airwaves now.

This is true. I've been going to the LB race since the intial one in '75 or '76 when F1 was racing there with Andretti and Jody Schecter, etc, and the track was a lot different..... Not sure if they're still doing the Speed GT race on Sunday, but that would be the only reason to be there.....
