Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hello all, Sorry, this is really 2 threads in once, but easy to read. I've noticed prices keep dropping on the earlier 996's. I would love to pick one up. Would need to sell my '85 targa first......anyone want to trade with me plus some cash for you? On a side note, Does anyone have the recent Manheim auction figures for the '99 and '00 C2? Wouldn't mind seeing the C4 as well. Someone here posted them about 6 months ago, how about now? Thanks all, Regards, Jon

POST 2Original post

Me too!! I'd like to buy a 00 or 01 C2 with wheels and an aero kit from a wholesale auction. Mark

POST 3Original post

What do you guys want exactly? The auction averages for good/average/fair condition? Jeremy

POST 4Original post

Yes, I want $50,000 and your targa for my 2000 996 C2. Go to the aution and get one!!

POST 5Original post

If you want a beater on the cheap, go to the auction.

POST 6Original post

Not necessarily true Holger. Mine (avatar) was purchased at auction and ran in the top 3 in the Daytona Grand-Am CUP race this season. Lesson: Take your time, look for the right car at the right price, do your homework, and you can come up with a good car. Rush into something, and in most cases, whether you are buying at auction or from an individual, you're much more likely to get burned. __________________ Brian Bailey Autometrics Motorsports Porsche 996 - Grand-Am Cup #45 '87 Porsche 944 Turbo - PCA GT3s

POST 7Original post

Not sure what you're refering to. I don't think the original poster was implying a public auction. Many cars at the dealer auction cars, come almost prepped for the showroom, etc. In the recent past I've seen quite a few cars go for a bit higher than what a private party sells for on the street, but the shape was imaculate...

POST 8Original post

In my limited experience with dealer auctions, you generally get what you pay for without the ability to do full due diligence (PPI, talk to owner, etc). Brian, I'm guessing that your car had substantial work done after you purchased it and therefore isn't necessarilly reflective of what one would normally find at dealer auctions. (Sweet car by the way!)

POST 9 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Just looking for Manheim auction prices. This auction is NOT open to the general public. It involves many just off lease cars. If there are loads of same models available, the prices usually "drop" a bit. I've been to Manheim, and some real peaches are out there. This is not a beater auction. MANY retailers get their autos there (I am referring to the Hi-Line auctions held there). As far as condition, good/excellent condition with under 40K miles would be great. Thanks again, Jon

POST 10Original post

MMR (Manheim Market Report) Auction Values in order of condition listed as above / average / below for a... 1999 Carrera 2 Coupe - $32,500 / 28,700 / 25,500 2000 Carrera 2 Coupe - $39,100 / 35,800 / 32,600 1999 Carrera 4 Coupe - $33,700 / 30,400 / 27,000 2000 Carrera 4 Coupe - $42,000 / 38,600 / 35,200 All of the above are recalculated values based on vehicles with 40,000 miles. Also I would like to make the following points: last week was an off week (because of the 4th of July holiday) so the values are likely to be slightly offset. Also these are national averages that do not take into account seasonal adjustments, auction fees, etc. If you would like any help locating a car please let me know. Jeremy

POST 11Original post

Holger, you're right, it has had a lot done to it since the purchase, but prior to all that, she was a pristine condition 45k mile '01 just off least purchased directly from Porsche Financial with all service records for under $40k. And this was over a year ago when comparable cars were selling in the mid to high $40's. Take your time, do your homework, deals can be had, but if you rush to purchase, you're much more likely to get burned. __________________ Brian Bailey Autometrics Motorsports Porsche 996 - Grand-Am Cup #45 '87 Porsche 944 Turbo - PCA GT3s
