Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I am considering parting out some of the stuff on my car. I would like to sell the car but won't be able to get what I think is the right asking price. So I if I return the car to mostly stock and sell parts I might be able to mostly get to where I wanted. Would you do this or just swallow hard and sell cheap? The list of things I could part out are: Champion RG5 19's with new tires for some inexpensive turbo twists with existing rubber PSE for standard exhaust GT3 front bumper for stock bumper PSS9's for stock suspension (may not be able to do this myself though) Aluminum shifter for stock

POST 2Original post

IDK. I had the same thoughts when I was selling my car, but I really built it to how I felt the car should have been from the factory so anything less than that made it less of a car to me. In the end I pulled off a copule of parts that were more track oriented and took away from streetability but for the most part kept the car as it was. I will tell you, only a small audience will care for the coilovers, it was a turn-off to most that were looking at my car. I found a buyer who appreciated them in the end so they stayed on there. One other thought. Do you have all the stock parts? If not, trading , buying additional parts and installing them (esp if you don't do your own mechanical work) makes it alot more effort for little return. Andy

POST 3Original post

I am in the same boat. I could swap back to stock parts and get the same price for the car, and then sell the parts - if you are giving it back to the bank... I say yes. If you sell it to a person who would enjoy them, let it go and save yourself a lot of work (thought the exhaust and wheels are like a 1/2 hr total time ) how much you want for your pss9's

POST 4Original post

If you DO decide to pull some mods I may be interested in the PSE!! (you knew that was coming!) But seriously, You may be best off pulling the suspension but I think the PSE and GT3 front bumper are a value add when selling.

POST 5Original post

sell the wheels and PSE... they are a high commodity and will sell quick at 1/2 the $$$ you paid. The others will be a nice cherry on top... to lure the buyer in. In general, if you can get 30% of your mods... you are doing OK.

POST 6Original post

I'm interested in the wheels....how about some silver or chrome turbo twists with tires?

POST 7Original post

When I sold my 2000 911 I did not part out modifications. I thought it would sell quicker, it still took a while. I now fine myself buying the same parts I did before. I wouldn’t mind having the FAB Speed exhausts system but it was a little too loud.

Deckman, don't sell the PSE mufflers to Marc until he installs his SSK!

POST 10Original post

Sounds like there is already interest in some of your 'parts', why not sell those and then decide on the rest.GL

Ha! I may do this. I just came from a shop that has some 18" Twists and Summo tires that are in good shape for really cheap. He also has a stock exhaust. If I do I'll decide really soon and list things for sale. Thanks for the advice to everyone!
