Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

8 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

but interesting that I read the new 911s just released have entirely new engines, not just direct injection and wet dual clutch sequetial 7 gears. The 3.6 engines grow from 3596 to 3614 cc ( bore from 96 to 97 mm and stroke from 82.8 to 81.5 mm) The 3.8 engines get a reduction in capacity from 3824 to 3800 cc (bore 99 to 102 mm and stroke 82.8 to 77.5 mm) The engines sit an inch lower in the chasis. Power and torque is up and fuel consumption is down.

POST 2Original post

New engine! WoW sounds like 1999 all over again.

POST 3Original post

New engine with 10 years of 996/997 experience.

POST 4Original post

Porsche needs to buy Toyota RMS's and then machine the crank journal and cases to Toyota's specs. Put this finally to rest so I never have to read about this again.

POST 5Original post

time will only tell...porsche has only had 10 years to figure this one out.

POST 6Original post

These are the new engines that will be in the GT3, GT2 and Turbo.... Im really excited to see these new engines. This is the beginning of a new era.

POST 7Original post

The case is now made of 2 pieces (not 4). FSI also allows higher compression ratio, something like 12.5:1, which of course gives more power.

POST 8Original post

I'm not sure I ever cared about the leaky seal, it's the intermediate shaft that scares me, and still seems to fail (but I have no idea of the frequency, just mechanic/tech hearsay) even in the latest updates. Let's hope this new M97?? variant has it licked!
