Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

9 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I understand that the '99 C4 was introduced mid-year, and had Motronic 7.2 and e-gas, which the C2 did not. My question is, was the C2 upgraded to 7.2 and e-gas mid-year?

POST 2Original post

No the MY99 C2 had no e-gas and DME 5.2 for the full model year. All MY2000 Carreras got DME 7.2 and e-gas except the RoW GT3.

POST 3Original post

My 996 is a 6/99 production and has some features which I only saw on the 2000 model. How can I see if it is e-gas or not?

POST 4Original post

If it is a 99 then it is not e-gas. Wow, 6/99 must have been one of the last 99s made before 2000 models starting rolling off the line.

POST 6Original post

An egas throttle body looks like this. A MY99 C2 has a throttle return spring and idle valve. (My hand Jeff's photo)

POST 7Original post

I will have a look when I get the car. Quite easy to identify. Is there a problem with non egas?

POST 8Original post

Loren is an 'old hand.' Here is another picture of the same 1999 C2 he worked on. Non e-gas has an accelerator cable you can see.

POST 9Original post

Got my car today!!! It's almost mint, I would say a 9 out of a 10, 20,000 miles on it, I love it. It is produced in 7/99 not 6/99 what I initially thought but still non egas.
