with all the talk of oil starvation in '99-'01 996s, i was thinking of doing the factory oil starvation kit but at 3K parts and labour, plus sending out parts for machining, i.e. no car for god knows how long, i was thinking of doing the accusump as i know i will eventually go with stickier tires (stickier than dunlop ssr) at the track. it looks like an easy and effective mod. cheap too at less than 500 bucks and minimal down time. anyone? shall i be the guinea pig?

Coverage and how to read this overview
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I have an accusump on my 944 and have frequently wondered why people don't use them on 996s.
and what are your impressions? in theory, it looks like it would help. i like the pre-oiling before startup too.
Hard to know. I mean, if it works as designed, then you will never notice it since you will not experience oil starvation! Here is a picture of mine. Since the engine is in the rear in a 996, you can probably install it in the back.
thx! i think i'll just have to tak e the plunge and do it.
Please do, it couldn't hurt right? I am not sure how it can tell you are cornering hard since oil pressure would remain the same, but I am sure Canton has it figured out. Where would you install it?
i'm gonna poke around and see what i can do. i am thinking of just removing my evo v-flow box and making my own compact unit. i cut a hole into the decklid just above the cone so i don't think i need the long snorkel to the stock intake location. once i remove the box, there will be tons of room for the accusump.
Heya Carlos, did you talk to James ? We were just talking about you and doing something like that.. we wanted to try that out on the 996 Cab Super Charged car as well...
LET"S DO IT!
until you can do sub 2min in a 996, you won't need accusump, you will not generate enough G to worry about it.
2 min where? buttonwillow? seca? any norcal track? you are probably right but added precaution gives me peace of mind.
sorry, i typed too fast. i mean to say two min flat at TH with cyclone. yes, peace of mind is important. accusump can only help.
