Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

5 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

Yup broken when I got the car! Ordered the new ****, but after closer inspection the shaft coming out from the back. Anyone know of a fix - other than taking the whole cluster out? Replies appreciated. Thx

POST 2Original post

Yes, indeed! I've had this problem myself. You need to email this Brian guy in Newfoundland at [email removed] - he is the only known seller of the "stem" that you need to replace in the cluster; it is not available as a part from Porsche or anyone else. He sells them for a reasonable price, all things considered - and is a very nice guy to boot. Then, read these two links (they are for the Boxster but are equally applicable to our cars): http://boxsters.addr.com/hacks/cluster.htm http://www.iwantaporsche.net/cluster.htm Look around on Rennlist for the instructions on how to remove the Cluster.

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thx for the information, Brian does still have the part @ 36 plus $7 for shipping if case anyone else had the part break.

POST 4 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Update - ordered the OEM **** from e-bay which came today. Thought about the situation and decided to dremel the outside of the ****, shaving off a bit so it would fit into the cluster housing & drilled out the hole to the size of the broken shaft and low and behold it pushed in nicely and works fine.
