Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

4 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Took my wife's VW New Beetle to the VW dealer because of a CEL. I looked up the code and there is a TSB for a bad ground problem with one of the coils. Basically it calls for re-routing a wire for this known problem. I provided the dealer with the codes and my print-outs of the TSB. They won't accept my information and will get the codes themselves for $149.00. Robbery.

Go to an indy mechanic.

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I do for my 996 but I didn't know anyone for the VW. I guess I should have asked, but I was in a rush because it failed inspection with the CEL.

POST 4Original post

That sucks! Well, punish them later by sending the car to an indy for all non-warranty work.
