Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Wouldn't this just be the coolest thing: Meanwhile, reports have claimed that Mercedes could face competition from another German team in the near future, with Porsche considering a return to the grid for the first time since 1964. Porsche provided engine for McLaren when the English outfit won five world drivers' and manufacturers' titles in the 1980s, but has not been involved in motorsport's elite class since 1991. The Financial Times Deutschland reported on Friday that Porsche was considering a comeback, while the company's new chairman Matthias Muller hinted as much to the Autocar website. He suggested that Audi, which is also owned by Volkswagen and has previously said it is not interested in racing in F1, may focus on LMP1 prototype sportscar racing. "With LMP1, there are two classes and two brands: Audi and Porsche. We do not like both to go into LMP1, that is not so funny. So therefore we have to discuss whether it makes better sense for one of the brands to go into LMP1, and the other brand into Formula One. So we will have a round-table to discuss the pros and cons," he said in an interview at the Paris Motor Show. Pete

POST 2Original post

I'm a huge F-1 fan (and Porsche nut), but frankly, I would much prefer seeing Audi take a shot at F-1 and Porsche to go for LMP1. Afterall, Porsche's historical strength is sports car endurance racing. BTW, although I'm pleased that F-1 is making a return to the U.S., I must say that Austin, TX, doesn't excite my sentiments. From a fan's perspective, I can think of many better choices; to wit: Road America, Road Atlanta, even Las Vegas, all of which have a tradition of motorsports. Finally, it was great seeing F-1 back at Montreal this year...great city, great track. relinuca

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hi Relinuca! thanks for comments about Montreal, I love it here...but I am biased!!! I wasn't surprised about Texas as the venue for F1 because there is a lot of money in Texas, oil companies etc....the other places you mentionned are great of course. Ultimetely time will tell whether it was a good choice! As for Porsche in F1, well for me it would just be fun to see us compete against the big gun teams and see if the Porsche "endurance" reputation can hold an F1 motor together in the demands of a race weekend! cheers Pete

POST 4Original post

LOL, I got a big ole oil derrick in mah postage stamp backyard pumpin' that black gold. And I wear my cowboy boots and 10 gallon cowboy hat when ah go cruisin into the sunset in mah Porch. If ah could fit a shotgun rack in mah Porch, I would. Actually, the guy funding the Austin track owns car dealerships. But I do live across the street from the ranch where the Dallas pilot episode was filmed... /m
