I just had the 90,000 mile service completed, including new spark plugs. I did the easy stuff but turned it over to my indie for the plugs. The PO couldn't remember when they were replaced, if ever, so I wan't about to try it. Turned out fine. Plugs looked OK, no leaking of the seals or tubes, so that was good. The only issue I had was a roaring noise at 50 mph+. Wheel bearings or tires. The tires, Michelin PS2s, looked pretty good with even wear, but the noise wasn't really loud enough for bearings, or so I thought. WRONG! Both bearings were singing pretty badly once they were spun without the wheels. So now, with my wallet lighter, she is again driving fantastic! I can hear the engine again. Good news is everything else looks good; suspension, brakes, etc. Ready for another year of excitement!

Coverage and how to read this overview
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.
4 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

Nice. Good to go for many more pleasurable miles. Amazing how loud the bad wheel bearings can get.
What's the plug interval on the 996 engines?
