so i'm looking at tirerack for new rear tires for my 01 C4. they claim OEM size of 265/35/18. those are the size of my winter rears. however my previous summer tires were 285/30/18. which size should i get? i'm looking at getting sumitomo's htz 2 or 3. anyway, any size recommendation between the sizes?

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. +1 post your rim size (should be 10's on an 01', could be 11's though since its a C4)
I think the '01 C4 was still narrow body correct? The answer is BOTH will work fine. I beleve that Porsche didn't start putting 285's on the rear until 2002 when they upgraded the front wheel width from 7.5" to 8". So technically 265 is the "better" but either will work. Lost of people like the way the 285 looks under the car so they put them on as a replacement when it was needed. Either works fine on a 10" wheel. 285 will cause more understeer if that matters to you. Andy

thanks for the info. now i'm pretty cheap, so i might go with the 265s just to save $20

Did you see the close-out pricing Tire Rack currently has on the Bridgestone RE01-R's You could do 225/265 combo for $465 for all 4 tires. They're not long lasting tires but they stick like snot and are great performance tires. If I didn't have to buy tires for two other cars right now and new track tires for the 996 I'd be all over them and just store them in the basement. (with the 6 other sets of wheels and tires I've got down there.) Andy
