Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Group, Just found this one..may be able to go see it today http://raleigh.craigslist.org/ctd/2153170308.html 99 w/49k miles for 24k. Thanks J

POST 3Original post

I kinda like that color. What's up with the seats in that one picture? Fish-eye lens?

POST 4 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

The only things that bother me is that it is a 6 owner car and the ad mentions "The car has had previous paintwork". There is no accident "reported" on Carfax. But I will try to find out what they mean by that. J

What? The carbon dash pieces? I really don't like that at all! I think it cheapens the interior. J

POST 7Original post

looks like a nice car but my gut sez to tread carefully with full PPI.... 6 owners, paintwork, runs/idle hot, shaky maintenance history... def look under the carpets... GL Also..... Look at the rear wheels, one looks flushed, the other not so much. Or Im just imagining things....

POST 8Original post

I could swear that car was for sale 3+ years ago when I was looking for a 996 ..

The last 3 owners had it less than 1 year. Also one was a commercial owner. I don't know if that matters or not. I guess a company car of some sort? The wheels do look different..It may be the camera angle. The pics look as if they were reduced from larger files. I hope to see it this week. I am going back and forth between 996 and 964! J

POST 10Original post

6 owner? 3 of the later ones held it a short while? I'd walk.

the 964 is a great car.... you will get much more car with 996 for the money.... It is a tough call, many just get both.

POST 12Original post

I have been following this car for awhile now, its been for sale for ever. I think its $2k over priced and the guy looks like he is not going to move on the price so I didn't go any further. Those are nice wheels so that does add to the car but not to $25k. Get a good PPI and offer $22.5, my 2 cents. That is what I was going to do...

POST 13Original post

I paid 23.5K for my 99 cab with 37K miles. Price seems high to me especially with 6 owners and paint work. I would keep looking!

POST 14Original post

The car belongs to the owner of Weaver Motorsports (a small independent dealer in Raleigh). I bought my wife's Z3 from him a couple of years ago and I'm pretty sure he had this 996 back then. It's been for sale for a while, but I don't know how seriously. He was asking $25,900 for it a couple of months ago.

POST 15Original post

That is full price for a '99. It would need to check out 100%. Not too surprising to find a high-end car with paintwork not noted on the CARFAX. More affluent owners will often pay for repairs rather than report to insurance, particularly if they have younger drivers on their policy. A little secret that CARFAX never mentions... if it does not go through insurance it does not go on the report!

Yup, thats the car that was FS years ago, same owner.

POST 17Original post

it doesn't even really shine.....buy mine!! http://sfbay.craigslist.org/sfc/cto/2154875819.html

POST 19Original post

That price is very high in my opinion. A '99 with those miles should be closer to $20k.
