Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I'm strongly thinking of buying a 911 Carrera 2 coupe. It seems that 2001's and 2002's are in my target price range. I see a bunch of of 2001's in the 48K to 52K range, and 2002's in the 54K range, all with relatively low miles. (under 30K) I've also seen some 2001's with over 50K miles priced at 38K! that is quite a bit lower, im wondering about the reliability of these models at that mileage. Anyone have thoughts on this? I would definately go for an extended warrantly to 100K Miles if it could be done on that vehicle. Any risks buying a 911 with 50,000+ miles?

POST 2Original post

With a proper PPI done, and from a Porsche dealer, I would say no more than buying any car with 50K miles on it. And if you get a car you like for 35K you can put 10K in your bank account for anything it might need down the road. Rob

If the '02's are in your price range, go for the '02. Significant changes to the car from the '01 model. If this is your first Porsche, be advised that these cars are all about the options. They are built a la carte. So make sure you understand what options you want on the car. Some, like PSM, can't be added after. Shop carefully and take your time. It took me four months to find the "right" car.
