Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hello all; I have an 01 996 in the shop that I am attempting to get ready for lease return. Part of that is reinstalling the OE full power/leather "comfort seats" as I believe they may be called. This car came to me initially with a pair of Sparco seats installed that simply did not fit the car, or the driver's needs. I proceeded to do a custom install of Kirkey Road Race Deluxe seats on sliders. Unfortunately, I was not the one who installed the first set of seats, and so I am at a bit of a loss to get everything reassembled. I have managed to get the passenger seat back in and the wiring properly configured. However, the driver's seat is presenting a problem. There is a circuit board junction box approx. 8"x3" mounted under the front of the driver's seat. It appears to me that - unlike the passenger seat - ALL wiring terminates at this box. The wires I see eminating from the harness under the carpet have two plugs that I assume are connected to the air bag system. There are corresponding empty ports on the junction box for these. That much I have figured out. These are my problems: - I do not have the FSM, and PET does not show anything that I could find in the way of a schematic for these systems. - I do not see a wire harness with a 6-port round pin connector under the seat (like on the passenger side) that would seem to be the connector for the seat power. I see NO connectors without a home at all. Everything is either terminated at the junction box, or is hard wired into a component. - There is one other empty port on the junction box for another 5-wire terminal (3 small/ 2 larger spades). - I see nothing that I can connect to the floor harness for seat power. It has the same 2-row, 6 round pin connector as the passenger side, but I find nothing on the driver's side to connect it to. I am making the assumption that there is supposed to be a short intermediate harness that connects the floor harness to the junction box that powers the seat motors. I would greatly appreciate any assistance that anyone can offer, be it verbal instructions, PET, FSM, or any other source of documentation on these assemblies, and how they are supposed to be configured.

The box under the drivers seat is the alarm system control unit and central locking control unit. There should be a connector for the seat belt and one for power seats (if so equiped). The will not be coming from the control box (as I recall).
