Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

4 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

A few years ago there were a number of reported posts that the aftermarket LED 3rd brake lights were burning out after a year or so, and those folks were forced to go back to their OEM incadescant lights. How has the track record been like in the last few years? At nearly $100 or more a pop and the inherent advantage of LED technology, they really should come with lifetime warranty.......

POST 2Original post

I've had mine for more than two years with no issues at all.

POST 3Original post

I believe there's 3 versions....clear red and black LEDs. I've had the clear for a few years...the bulbs are fine but the clear(not the outside lens but the inside where the leds sit on) turned slightly yellow over the years. I'm assuming it's due to the heat from engine. I switched over the the black LEDs. Have not had a problem(or I just can't tell cause it's black)

POST 4Original post

I installed mine at Xmas time and the incandescent I replaced was cracked on the left side but still working. I assume the heat from the engine caused this problem over time. We'll see in the future, if this same heat causes the LED unit to fail.
