Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

14 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Anybody buy their oil through the internet/mail order versus a brick and mortar near your house? Best prices? Recomendations? I go through quite a bit between the P-Car and the Benz and it is starting to get expensive locally (haven't found it less than $5/qt not to mention the 8% sales tax here!) Thanks!

POST 2Original post

Check out your local Wal-Mart. Usually they carry it for less than $5 if I recall correctly.

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

There is a new SUper WalMart near the house,,,,,,I will give them a try... THanks!

POST 4Original post

Mail order/web places are normally around $6-7/qt, then add shipping. I bought Mobil1 (15W-50, they had other viscosities as well) in a 5qt container at Walmart for $19.82 each; about $4/qt. (I bought all I could find, 20 containers (100 qts), so if anyone is wondering where it all went in SE MA, it's in my garage) Maybe next time I should just buy a 55 gallon drum

POST 5Original post

Try parkplacedallas.com -- it's where i've gotten tons of it. $5.70/qt, shipping is flat rate of $4.50, and no tax if you're outside of Texas. Got to Accessories --> Porsche -- > Performance.

POST 6Original post

My dealer tops up my Mobil 1 oil whenever I get low at no charge. They have been doing this for me for several years. Is my case unique? I offered to pay and they told me to forget it.

POST 7Original post

Our local Costco carries it in a six pack. I'm sorry but I don't remember the price. They have it in 2 weights. They do not have 0W-40 but have 5w-40 I believe.

POST 8Original post

free stuff from a porschedealer is unique indeed. but i got a red clip for free once for my 986, even though later i got the speedster humps kit, which came with one anyway.

POST 9 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Well I made my rounds yesterday and discovered the following for 0W-40: Walmart (GOD I HATE GOING IN THAT PLACE!!!)....4.79/qt and no 5qt containers Checker/Kragen: 4.99qt Most everybody that does carry 0W-40: $5-7qt depending on where you go Costco does not carry 0W-40 but does carry 5W-40 Looks like I am paying 4.99qt at Checker with no line! And that is fine with me.

POST 10Original post

I won't shop at Walmart. I refuse to support their business practices. Shop elsewhere!

POST 11 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I won't shop there either. I just wanted to check out their oil prices according to a previous post.

POST 12Original post

Autozone has the 0w40 for $4.79. Valvoline Syn power 5w40 and Castrol 5w50 is also approved and available. The Sams and Costco near me only has 5w30 and 10w30 Mobil1.

POST 13Original post

i was going to suggest the already suggested costco option. their prices are great on m1 (chicago).

POST 14 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

costco does have great prices ......but they don't carry 0W-40.
