Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

3 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I have noticed on some cold starts that when the clutch just engages there is a clunking sound coming from the back. It feels that something is holding the car back and then there is a relatively loud clunking sound. Doesn't happen all the time. Does anyone know what this is?? And no, its not my left foot not operating the clutch properly. thanks Chucksta

POST 2Original post

Did you wash the car, or was it raining prior to your restart? I've experienced the same noise, but only if the brake discs were damp/wet when I put the car away...I'm convinced that the slight rust build-up sticks the pads to the discs, and initial movement causes the momentary hesitation and the clunking noise until the pads break loose. Cheers
