i was at the dealer looking to trade up to an 02 and up 911 (currently have an 01). the dealer had 2 really nice lapis blue on black with aero kit c2's that were pretty nicely optioned. they were both 04's. sticker was 88k. anyway, he then tells me that they were pde cars and they have 8,000 miles on them. he gave me a price of 72 which is way too high. he then called me today and verbally told me 68k which i believe is still to high. kbb gives me a number of 68k for dealer price, 62k for private party. plus, these 8,000 miles are track miles. so the first question is, should i stay away from this car because it was a pde car and was driven hard? it is perfect otherwise. the next question is what do you think would be a reasonable price? thanks in advance.

FWIH, PDE cars are not broken in properly and not just tracked but abused...68k$ is a joke, don't buy it.
I bet the cars you looked at were at Len Stoler. I saw them a couple of months ago and they still had the PDE sticker on the doors. They tried to sell them to me for upper $60s but I said no thanks. They also have an '02 on their lot for $59K that's been there for almost a year, and a stripped '04 that they were selling for $66K. One factor in favor of these cars is that they were well maintained and they are certified cars with the extended warranty. If you could get the car for the low $60s, it might be worth the risk. But I agree that $68K for a PDE car is too high. Let us know how you make out.
yup it is len stoler. my whole point though is that the car is moderately priced at 68k for a non pde car. i would think the car should be worth about 62 or 63, then it might be a good deal
FWIW, 4 months ago I got my '04 C2 (also Lapis Blue) with 6,400 miles on it for $65K. I agree with Fast 1 that LOW $60's would be reasonable. Pic a car and if you are serious about it, offer them $60.5 and see what they say. You might end up getting it for $61.5. My 2 !
Did you see this 40th http://www.autotrader.com/fyc/vdp.js...ist=344#vdptop Edit ops, you are trading-in, so it has to be local I guess....
You have nothing to lose by offering $63K. I doubt that they will accept your offer, but nothing ventured etc. From their perspective, they know that a lot of Porsches are purchased by professionals who have no idea what PDE is, and hence it wouldn't be a factor in their decision making process. I agree with your assessment of the cars and the sound of the sport exhaust is awesome, but 8K is a lot of track miles. Good luck. I hope it works out for you.
WOW! That's a damn good price for a 40th, especially considering the mileage! And better yet, it's not the prerequisite Black interior . I wonder how many ga-zillion P-cars have been made that are Silver or Gray w/black interior?
