Hello, I've been experiencing a waning squeel after I turn off my 99 996. It doesn't happen all the time, just every once and awhile, for about 10-20 seconds after I turn off the key. Any ideas are appreciated! Thanks, Keith

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

hmm...thats an unusual sound. once in a while when my ac is on, i'll get a sound that can best be discribed as the noise from when han solo punches the hyperdrive on the millenium falcon and it doesn't work...sort of a mechanical winding down. but otherwise it shuts down instantly. especially if the car was driving well.. probably because of all the parts expanding properly.
Hmm.. it's really a squeal, very high pitched and it slowly dies out after 10 or 20 seconds, really odd, a sound I've never heard from a car.
is it your engine cooling fan? that would be the only thing on after engine shut off. if this happens only after the car is hot, it's probly the fan.
Hmm.. possible, yet it seems to have little rhyme or reason as to hot/cold and it really doesn't sound much like a noise a fan could make, worth a look though.
WHERE IS THE NOISE ORIGINATING FROM?
It "seems" to be coming from the front of the car. Keith
It is one of your cooling fans. Happens intermitantly on mine too ever since new. I wouldn't worry about it unless it's happening all the time.
