Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

At some point in the next year, I will be painting my car (99 C2 Coupe with aerokit). My plan is to do most of the disassembly myself, have the shop do the paintwork and then re-assemble everything myself. I did my last 1980 911SC this way and got amazing results at a great price. From initial inspection, it looks like the 996 will be easier to dis-assemble than the SC that I had. What I'm looking for help on is the following DIY's: - Front and rear bumper removal - Door Mirror removal - Rear quarter window removal - Rear window removal - Front fender removal (not sure if I need to or not, I may leave these on) - Front windshield seal removal (does the window need to come out or just the seal?) - Door handle removal - Aerokit side skirt removal (are these screwed on or glued on?) - Sunroof panel removal - Rear decklid/wing removal - Door window seal removal - Headlight Removal - Tail light removal I plan to document with pictures and consolidate any info I find to help anyone else contemplating doing this in the future. If anyone's done this before, please post your thoughts. Thanks, Paul.

If someone could post the workshop manual, it has a section called "body" I believe. It shows all the fastener points. My manual is loaded on my other computer or I would post, sorry.

POST 3Original post

I tried to post but the files are too big. However, you can download them from here - that's where I got them. http://www.cannell.co.uk/Manuals.htm Keep us posted - I have always wanted to paint the car and save a few buck too.

I have that link as well, but I don't think you're allowed to post it, are you? I'm okay with following the instructions in the manual, but there's some things that aren't described that well. Also, there's other things that pictures and additional "gotchas" would be good to see. Specifically things like how to pull the rear side and rear windows... I also know Robin 993DX has instructions on removing the front bumper on his p-car.com site.
