A little over a month ago I was asking around about 996 and ended up short a couple of days of getting chad's white 996 3.4. After that I was seriously looking into Allan C's old car but time and distance were a big constraint. So I ended up buying a local car with 39K Km (24K miles). Having little time before my track event ( didn't want to miss another one since I already had to cancel one after selling my RSA), I went right ahead with mods. A fellow lister had is GT3 suspension shipped by plane over night and the following day it was one the car. So with less then a week, I had the suspension done, pagid RS29 front and back, rennline pedals and mats (I have small feet), painted an extra set of wheels with michelin cups and track alignment. In the meantime I got a BK aluminum harness bar (but can't use it without the proper seats and harnesses), GT3 sway bars, and PSE mod with 2-1/4" pipe. BTW, everybody should do this cause the sound is intoxicating. Short shift kit is on the way along with schnell intake tube. Here are a few shots at the track.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

what is your impression between the rsa and the 996? beautiful ride btw...
Humm should I say very different!!! I have to get the 996 like I want it cause right now, I miss my RSA very much. The reason why I sold the RSA was to be able to bring the kids along and drive it more. I had 600 and 800 spring rate on the RSA and rollbar and no rear seat and no sound padding etc. I wouldn't drive it much but to go to the track and back. Now the 996 is fun for week end drives and also daily driving. I find the GT3 suspension very smooth but also very responsive. I will order the GT3 seats in metropol blue this winter (6 months wait) but will not add a rollbar. Wanting an all around car is fun but you can't have it all and I found that out at the track last week-end. It's fast and I like very much the acceleration and the torque all the way up to 4800 rpm. The brakes are very good for regular calipers even though I had pagid RS29 all around and motul RBF660 liquid. I never ran out of brakes. I had huge understeer and hope that GT3 sways will help. Since I didn't have any safety modules on the RSA except for a weak ABS that never came on (had Big reds), I was afraid of getting a car with better ABS and PSM but found out that unless you're doing something really wrong, they hardly come on. I was pushing the car quite a bit and didn't bother taking it off most of the time. Once I get the suspension and sway bars fully sorted out, I will enjoy the car better but I can't really compare them both since one was a full track car. I wanted an all around car and I got it. What more can I say...... Stay tune for more updates.
Wow!!! A positive air to water post!!! Kinda refreshing actually.
