Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

and 16k miles sold on Barrett-Jackson today. That's beyond crazy, isn't it? And of course that price doesn't include the mark-up charged by the auction house.

POST 3Original post

I was shocked. Having bought, rebuilt, and sold salvaged vehicles...I couldn't believe someone paid that much for a salvaged vehicle that had prior flood damage. I rebuilt a 99 SL600 Mercedes with a salvage title due to flood damage. I would think twice before touching a flood vehicle again. You don't know what is lurking behind those door panels or under that carpet. I feel a little better about all the work I'm doing on the salvage titled 996 in my garage. Where was that buyer when I sold my Vesuvio 996 with a salvage title?

I don't think so. The announcers & auctioneers make a big deal out of the charity lots, I believe. I think it was just two dumb guys bidding against each other and after adding the 10% commission the price was $58,300. Of course, the flood damage was a free option. Here it is: LotNumber 95 Year 2004 CarMake PORSCHE CarModel CARRERA CarStyle C4S CUSTOM COUPE ExteriorColor MIDNIGHT BLUE METALLIC Interiorcolor CINNAMON BROWN Cylinders 6 Engine 3.6 LITER Transmission 6-SPEED MANUAL Summary 6-speed with sunroof, leather interior, suede headliner, power door locks, Bi Xenon lights, special paint option, ABS, traction control, power steering and power brakes. POST 6Original post

Barrett-Jackson. Nuff said. All the prices going through that auction house are retarded. You couldn't pay me to buy a flood damaged car. C.

You can buy a non-salvaged with warranty, for price and comm. that those two bid that car up to. Wonder what was in the trunk?

POST 9Original post

Hmm, can't help wondering how much a shiny 996 with a blown engine would fetch.. lol

POST 10Original post

400 hp to the wheels? With a chip, intake and exhaust...that doesn't sound right, unless I'm missing something. I love the thing about 6000 miles a year---the car could have been driven 16000 miles in 1 year and then flooded and sitting for 2 years...stupid. How could I sell my car at Barrett Jackson? If a salvage title C4s is going for this much, I think I could sell mine for a profit.

A couple hundred pounds of solid gold, perhaps?

POST 12Original post

The new owner could potentially join the Rennlist community. We will have to be on a lookout for this car.

Cold Air, Exhaust and Chip get me 80hp? Wow that is a special car!

POST 14Original post

Quotes source post: 4991002

at the wheels no less! Geez, if it was that easy we'd all do these mods.

POST 16Original post

Jeez, if that's the case, mine must be worth $90K or so!

POST 17Original post

Quotes source post: 4992513

No way! You car hasn't been driven enough to qualify for a resale.

POST 18Original post

Quotes source post: 4992697

Who said anything about a resale? I'm gonna find someone who's never been on Rennlist, and tell them it has "dealer miles only."

POST 19Original post

Tim, I'm thinking you should take your car out to Barrett for a quick sale!!

POST 20Original post

But what "damage" do I have to do to it in order to get it to sell?

POST 21Original post

Quotes source post: 4993389

You could always set it on fire...that should be good for at least 30 grand...

POST 22Original post

Tim you got to actually post your P on cars.com and other sites......but I know what you are doing...I am on to you!! You are telling your wife: Honey I am really trying hard, but no one is in the market for a P right now! Admit it....you are not ready to split with you P...and by the time you are.....it is going to be worth 20K ......so better just keep driving it and enjoy!!

POST 23Original post

I can't even watch 5 minutes of that show anymore. It is painfully obvious that a lot of people have way more money than brains.

POST 24Original post

"Hmm, can't help wondering how much a shiny 996 with a blown engine would fetch.. lol" Someone offered me 7k for it. So I decided to put another motor in it. Now I hope to sell it for 25-30.
