Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I have a 00 C2 coupe with 19k miles on it. Is it a good idea to get an extended warranty? Where do you get one and what should one pay for it... Seems like a good idea if I am going to keep it for a couple more years!!! Need your advice...

GOOD GODD GODD! these 3.4 seem to break pretty often (current count this week.... 99 with a cracked cyl. and a 99 (tip) with a broken valve spring) plus leaking breather boots and airbag lites, the $3500 from a dealer is a good price (my 3.4L with the cracked cyl. left with a new motor for a hair under $15K Trust me I work at the dealer!

Get the warranty for as long as possible my 99 C2 is in the process of getting a remanufactured engine at a cost of $11,000. It only has 50K miles on it and always serviced never raced. The intermideate shaft gear broke inside the block very common acrording to a dealer here in NY. Block castings make in 1998 had a lot of flaws your engine has a week and year it was built stamped on the engine block near the rear main pully and after March of 1998 many of the cylinder liners were done correctly. But who knows what the future will be your 2000 should have all the bugs out. As to the cost of a warranty call-[phone removed] and get a price quote check the fine print for all there coverage details.

I bought mine from Warranty Direct check out their web site. I have used them once for an RMS replacement and they paid promptly with no hassle. I am not affiliated in any way other than being a customer. Cost me $2400 for 4 years and 60K miles.
