Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I had the center console out of my 2002 C4S today to clean and lube shift linkage. I noticed a four wire inline plug forward of the shifter and underneath the parcel shelf and CD storage. It must be for an accessory that I do not have. Can anyone tell me what it is?

POST 2Original post

It's for the cellular phone connection. Many people tap into it for accessory power.

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks! Is it routed through the sound system? If so, will it take an IPOD connection?

But it will power a radar detector It's actually a good switched/unswitched power source.

Wont take an ipod connection but if we are talking about the same connector isn't there Aux line in?. Therefore giving ipod line in and charging ability. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/porsc...-my-911-a.html

FYI, here's the wiring for the 4 wire plug: Brown - Ground Yellow - mute signal to radio Green - Switched 12v Red - Unswitched 12v More info: https://rennlist.com/forums/996-foru...r-console.html

wait - is there a aux line on stock box systems for 996? I have one in PPI (04 4S Cab) now and first up is getting ipod or sat radio into it.
