Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hi folks, I've Been a lurker; great site!!! I am driving to Las Vegas to attend a trade tomorrow, but I am having a difficult time finding Pzero's in Orange County, CA. Size 285x30x18. My rear tires are bald in the middle past the wear bar. No threads showing. Am I asking for trouble trying to drive a total of around 600 miles round trip? Does anyone here live in my area that can recommend a place in Orange County; Wheel Enhancement has stock, but they are 60 miles away. Help!

POST 2Original post

You should be fine as long as you don't get into heavy rain. You can have Wheel Enhancement ship the tires to a shop in Las Vegas and have them mounted so you only have to drive 300 miles on worn tires.

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks for the come back. Sounds like a good idea having W/E shipping the tires; but I am in Vegas for a few hours.

POST 4Original post

Sounds like somebody didn't plan ahead! Have you tried calling any of the Discount Tires locations here in Vegas? You could drop your car off in the morning when you get here and have new rubber a couple hours later. FWIW, driving 300 miles on bald tires is just asking for trouble especailly on the extremely "safe" road called I-15.

POST 5Original post

Well, you're not really supposed to drive the car beyond the wear bars. Having said that and I'm sure you know that, in a pinch and so long as you're careful in rain you should be OK. Most tire shops will have either the Pirellis or the Michelins in stock in Porsche sizes. Check yellow pages and delay you're departure by a few hours. Or, have it done in LV. I'd feel safer that way.

Thanks for the comeback guys. I ended up with new tires from Grand Prix in Costa Mesa, CA. Good company! Here's the ironic thing...I open the car up pretty good on my way to and from Las Vegas; no problem. I went to pick up my son this morning...exit the freeway, stopped at the stop light; bam! A guy from Nevada rear end me! Ouch! Now I am in need of a good body shop in the Irvine area; Can I get a recommedation from the good folks here?

POST 7Original post

eek! This was a nice happy "where to get tires" thread until ^ happened. Sorry to hear that, I hope noone got hurt.

POST 8Original post

Grand Prix in Costa Mesa seems to be extremely knowledgeable in all things high performance regarding tire and alignment --- but they ain't cheap. I had an "emergengy" replacement of the rears (265-35 x 18) Pirelli PZero done there a few weeks ago and the total bill was $675.00 Ahhhh the cost of needing it NOW!

POST 9Original post

Why chance it. Get new tires. You'll feel better...
