Has anyone covered their rear center console in leather instead of the factory plastic (even on full leather option car) or paint? If so, where to buy or approx. what did a trimmer charge for the job? --Steve

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Not sure what part you speak of, mine was leather..I had mine re-done in RED leather (with armrests) with additional padding (memory foam) added...cost $100. I also bought one from Gert (Carnewal) only problem was it was boxster red (still have it unused)...old pic:
I mean the main center console (housing the hand brake, ash tray, window switches) that some paint body color. I'd prefer the current dull fiinish black plastic be covered in the same black leather that the rest of the interior is covered in. Don't know if this was even a Porsche option in '02.
I believe "Orient Express" has a leather center console, done via the Exclusiv dept at Porsche (read: $$$$). You might want to call / email Don Le at Dallassteeringwheel.com - he seems to be pretty handy at recovering things (should you go the non-oem route).

if you want it to look factory get it from your local p-car dealership. not cheap, but really enhances the appearance. approx. $900.00 and be prepared to wait for a while. here is a pic of mine.

+1 looks great!! The one in that link is a bit wierd for me, sort of "home job" look to it. E
the stitching brings everything together as it matches the rest of the car. the trick is also to find a leather that matches the rest of the car. a good shop can probably match the stitching, but matching the leather is more difficult. This is why alcantara is a good interior material.
I bought a kit from the 928 Leather guy, but I haven't even thought about the install part yet. I like the $900 solution above way more.
That factory one with the stitching - NICE!!
Nice guy, been very friendly and helpful answering questions.
Manny, That's the look I want! You would think "Full Leather" would be so from the factory. Just so I know what the true P Car option looks like if I write the check, is the "plate" around the window switches and the ash tray top still plastic or are they covered too?

yes, but must be ordered seperately. i have those pieces in leather as well. iirc the ashtray piece is about $100 and the switch surround is about $175.00. you can order any porsche color but these will probably cost more and usually have a longer delivery time. the end result is worth it though..
Full leather isn't really "full" leather. It's more like "what someone would reasonable expect to be covered in leather is actually covered in leather". My car was spec'd with $8,490 worth of leather. This includes the air vents all the speaker grills. Insane.
