Sold my 2002 BMW SMG M3 and finally picked this up this week. Spent 5 months researching and looking etc; drove the spouse and my partner nuts! The Basalt black is really a complicated colour and shows many hues in the sunlight. Under dirt it also seems to hold it's own imo. What can i tell a Posche thread about the ride, other than to say that the superlatives are all justified!

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

From one new C4S owner to another, congratulations!!!!!
Very nice, I almost did basalt black too. Awsome car, snow is not a problem, just took my snows off today! Enjoy, 10X the car than a m3, IMO.
Nice...some good roads out near Ottawa..enjoy
Welcome to the C4S club. Gorgeous car! Looks kind of chilly up there! (Not to make you feel bad, but its 70+ here in Atlanta )
Congrats!
Damn it looks cold there... Badass car! Best of Luck with it!
Very nice! Of course, I might be biased...
Nice car. I've also got a BMW, but it's an M5. I'm looking at a C4 Cabriolet for a fun car. What I'm wondering is if all the Cabriolets in the 996 iteration were C4S's or were there also non-S versions? All I have is the 2005 brochure the dealer gave me and that only shows a 2004 C4S Cabriolet, I believe. Thanks, David
Good move, congrats.
996 C4 Cab was introduced mid-year in '99. Built through 2004 model year. 996 C2 Cab introduced '99. Built through 2004 model year.
The C4S is the best value in the Porsche 911 lineup! Great choice... Congrats.
Welcome to the C4S Club.
the first night in town was a very slippery slush/ice mixture. The PSM corrects for oversteer far more aggressivly than the M3's system. it really just kicked the back end back in line. the kick actually reminded me of the kick the SMG gave on hard shifting. What i really liked though, was the way the awd transfers to the front, removes any notion of understeer and communicates it through the steering wheel so bl@@dy well. that was one key reason for chucking the M3; it just couldn't deal with the understeer in the winter conditions. i can't take snows off for a while yet as the temp's are still too cool for the summer tires. they simply never reach an acceptable grip level until later in April.
i couldn't agree more riad. In the Pcar line up, and any other lineup for that matter, it also has the best hips in town, bar none imo. btw - it is practical - at least that is the story to the spouse and clients!
on another point, there were only about 4 new C4S's left in Canada. Given our climate, and the really classic wide body look of this model, i just don't see why there wasn't a line up to buy those last cars. Perhaps my lenses are too coloured, but i just can't figure out why their "value" seems to be "undervalued"?
