Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

5 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Has anyone else experienced this? I noticed a hole in my top late last year and today I finally figured out what was happening to cause it. Here is the hole: And this is what caused it: This pic was taken after I snipped off about 1/2" off the 'spring' wrapped around the post. Any idea what may have caused this to be poking out and interfering with the top? I think I am going to do an 'iron on' type of patch from underneath to keep it from spreading. I was extremely irritated when I saw what was causing it, but happy to have figured out what it was. Can I see a picture of how this 'spring' (for lack of a better term) is supposed to lie?

POST 2Original post

There is a spring loaded flap that protects the top from that latch. Yours is missing. https://rennlist.com/forums/996-foru...in-my-top.html

Thanks for taking the time to reply, Frisbee. Is there a picture or a part number you can provide?

The whole mechanism is one part. I replaced mine about 6 months ago. I ordered it from Pelican.

This is a source reference. Confirm exact model applicability in the original material.
