Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I think the pre auction estimate was $90k-$110k. It is definitely a cool car. Really like the interior.
It's curious. The carfax shows no service for the first 89,000 miles! That may explain why they had to rebuild the engine. Love the new color and the seat inserts.
Wow, that is amazing. A fully restored 996!?!? That's the first one I've seen. Cars like this are what bring up the value of all 996s. Pretty cool that they had a new under hood sticker printed with the updated color code. Id prefer that car over almost any 997, many 991s and most base spec 992s.
Love it!
Yes, very cool resto.
Yeah, it's good to see. And there will be more. ~$60k worth of refresh work, including factory short block swap, plus a 996 carcass in good shape gives you a brand new 996 that is a classic. Whether it was $50k or $70k all in for the seller to buy and refresh the car, its a small price in relation to what you have to pay for a high quality classic sports car. Especially in comparison to the new 911s that will go thru the inevitable Porsche depreciation cycle and losses from peak prices will dramatically exceed the cost of refreshing your 996.
Cool looking car, someone went to great lenghts replicating a factory 2wd Aerokit in custom paint and interior. Personally, I'm not sure the market is there yet for a 996 resto-mod? I think 65K could still get you a nice factory C2 Aero?
I just drove a 992.2 GTS last week on the track. Absolutely beautiful car, very plush, big, great long distance cruiser around the country, but not a drivers car, nor any fun to drive at speed. Nannies out the wazzo, numb in feel, very expensive parts and service. The warranty is a necessity. If you want an old school analog, hydraulic steering classic Porsche feel, that's still affordable, the 996 is it. There will be more 996 refresh/restomods because people will pay up for the experience. Just the way the Porsche market works over time. Had a good chuckle with my buddies at the track last week on how nobody wanted the 964. They were cheap and unloved back in the day. Today they are in demand and they never thought they would see it happen as 964 owners. Singer was started way before the 964 became hot property. Now look at Singer and look at the 964 market.
A full strip down and ground up restoration is NOT cheap on any car, but I can't think of a better car to do this on than the 996 !!!! Plus the fact that you can build it back to your tastes make it a very desirable approach , it you have the $$$$ !!!!
Hah! Money, money, money. Tough to make any money on cars, but you sure can have alot of fun with them!

You can easily make "money" on cars by repairing them, upgrading them, or restoring them ...( for someone else ) ...but the FACT is that it is much more FUN to just drive them !!!!!
Based on the pics and info, I think thats closer to a 6 digit restoration. Say $25k for the donor car, $20k for the engine, $20k for disassembly and a full paint color change, I gotta figure theres at least another $20k in parts and labor for everything else. Im thinking reserve had to be around $100k.

Cheaper than a base 992 with literally 0 options.

I agree .. at least $100K !!!! True ...AND you can build it to your desires !!! The only problem I see is that it would be so nice I would be apprehensive of driving it afraid of getting a scratch on it ....
That color is just delicious. I have always loved green cars in general and especially green 911s! I'd probably PPF the whole thing and then drive the wheels off of it, it needs a little "patina" to it anyway!
I hope if seller finds a buyer the car shows up at events would love to see it in person kinda like seeing the Seinfeld purchased Classic Club Coupe. Watch the factory 996.1 Aero Taco coupes I think they will be the 996 car to own. Rich
